Mayor's Welcome
Whether you already call Beaumont home, are relocating, or are just visiting, let me thank you for helping make it, “Another Great Day in Beaumont”!
Almost half a million people call our corner of Southeast Texas home. Beaumont, with a population of 110,000, is the region's largest city and the seat of Jefferson County. It’s been my honor to serve as Mayor since 2007 after serving as an At-Large member of the city council for 13 years.
It is an exciting time to be in Beaumont! Here are just a few of the numerous projects we are working on to improve the quality of life in our community:
Construction continues to move forward for our beautiful downtown district and includes the creation of a state-of-the-art event center, an adjacent 2-acre lake, and expansive great lawn and park.
Our parks are continually being upgraded to include new community centers in each part of the city. In addition, we have completed a great hike and bike trail with more to follow. Softball field improvements, as well as the construction of eight new tennis courts, are currently in the construction phase at the Athletic Complex. We can not leave out our “four-legged” friends and the city is currently developing a dog park.
One of Beaumont’s most traveled streets, Calder Avenue, is currently being reconstructed. The project will not only improve drainage throughout the city, but will include bricked paved sidewalks, decorative lighting, landscaping, bicycle lanes and connect our redeveloped downtown district with other parts of the city.
The city has successfully established a 3-1-1 customer service hotline for citizens to request information or city services via telephone or the city’s website.
Beaumont’s one-stop permitting center located at City Hall is now operational.
I would invite you to visit the city’s website www.cityofbeaumont.com to find out more about the exciting things happening in Beaumont. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our city and tell you truly that Beaumont, Texas, is indeed RICH with opportunity!
Sincerely, Becky Ames
Mayor
President's Welcome

Beaumont is a city rich with the things that matter, where natural resources are transformed into something greater so potential is realized and we can impact the world. It is place for people seeking strong character and distinct cultures.
Beaumont is a hub on the East Texas coast. We have excellent job opportunities for our citizens and a high demand for newcomers with job skills.
Beaumont is the center of one of the largest refining and petrochemical centers in the nation and serves the entire region as the hub for government, education, business, health care, and entertainment. We also are the gateway to the Big Thicket National Preserve, a national eco-tourism treasure. With a deepwater port, rail infrastructure many communities would envy, abundant supplies of water, and a workforce capable of designing, building, and operating billion dollar investments, we have it all.
You will discover a great place to live and work within one hour of Houston, nearby beach and lake communities, and Lake Charles to the east. If you are considering relocating to our area or just passing by, we invite you to explore our unique attractions and rich hospitality. Working together we have made Beaumont, Texas, a very special place.
